Biography
Brief Info:
Prof. Dr. Ercument Genc is a faculty member at Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Engineering. He graduated as an Agricultural Engineer from Ankara University in 1993 and began his MSc studies in Fisheries Science at the same university the same year. In 1995, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Fisheries, Department of Aquaculture, Division of Fish Diseases. He completed his MSc in 1996, earning the title of Agricultural High Engineer, and later in the same year was admitted to the PhD program in Fisheries and Aquaculture at Çukurova University. He completed his doctorate in 2002 with a thesis on fish endoparasites and their histopathological effects.
In 2002, he began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at Mustafa Kemal University. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Interuniversity Council in 2006 and was appointed to the same department that year. In 2011, he joined Ankara University as an Associate Professor and has served as a full Professor in the same department since 2013.
Since 1993, his research has focused on sustainable aquaculture, including fish and shrimp farming, nutrition, immunostimulants, histopathology, biofloc systems, and microbiota analysis. He is currently a member of the National Committee for the Registration of Aquatic Genetic Resources, the Honorary Board of the Agricultural and Food Ethics Association, and the R&D Projects Advisory Board of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. He also serves on the Central Ethics Committee on Aquatic Vertebrate Experiments.
Prof. Genc regularly reviews for national and international journals and serves as a subject editor, striving to contribute to the advancement of scientific quality and ethical standards in aquaculture research.
