Biyografi
Prof. Dr. Ilgaz Akata, 2000 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü’nden lisans derecesi ile mezun olmuştur. Akademik kariyerine 2002 yılında Ankara Üniversitesi Biyoloji Bölümü’nde araştırma görevlisi olarak başlayan Prof. Dr. Akata, yüksek lisans ve doktora çalışmalarını aynı üniversitenin Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü’nde tamamlamıştır.
Uluslararası düzeyde çeşitli akademik kurumlarda araştırmalar yürüten Prof. Dr. Akata, 2006 yılında Gent Üniversitesi (Belçika), 2008 yılında Atina Üniversitesi (Yunanistan), 2013 yılında M.G. Kholodny Botanik Enstitüsü (Ukrayna), 2014 yılında Taras Shevchenko Üniversitesi (Ukrayna) ve 2015 yılında Vytautas Magnus Üniversitesi’nde (Litvanya) ziyaretçi araştırmacı olarak bulunmuştur.
2013 yılında Mikoloji alanında doçentlik unvanı alan Prof. Dr. Akata, 2022 yılında profesör kadrosuna atanmıştır. Araştırmaları kapsamında, Ankara Üniversitesi adına tescil edilmiş ulusal bir patente buluş sahibi olarak katkı sağlamıştır.
Bugüne kadar 25 farklı bilimsel projede görev alan Prof. Dr. Akata’nın, Web of Science (WoS) tarafından taranan dergilerde 123, Scopus veritabanında taranan dergilerde ise 109 makalesi yayımlanmıştır.
