After completing his
B.S. in Mathematics, Murat ÇINAR worked as a mathematics teacher in a private
institution for two years. Soon thereafter, he entered the IDD&E graduate
program at Syracuse University and studied design and development of online
courses. He has been working in distance education programs since then. With his move to Virginia Tech, he served for
two years as course designer and instructor in the Instructional Technology
Master’s Degree program. Before coming
to Norfolk State University (NSU), he worked for IT in the College of Liberal
Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. Later, he worked as an Instructional
Designer and Project Manager at the Office of eLearning at NSU for 4 years. He
was responsible for providing leadership and processes for the design and
delivery of instructional content for technology enriched environments. He collaborated with faculty on individual or group
instructional design, and consulted to create high quality online courses that
integrate technology effectively with teaching and learning principles. He
provided learning needs analysis and assesses the instructional effectiveness
of course materials. His responsibility also included planning, developing and
teaching faculty development workshops and other activities in areas of
instructional design. After 10 years of experience in the United States, he moved
back to Turkey to establish Distance Education Programs at Ankara University
Distance Education Center. He worked as the Assistant Director of the Center
for 3 years. He currently works as a lecturer at the Open and Distance Education Faculty at Ankara University.
