Biography

Mehmet Altay ÜNAL received his Bachelor's degree (2003) and Master's degree (2006) from the Department of Physics Engineering at Ankara University, and his Ph.D. (2016) from the Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University. He then worked in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Florida Institute of Technology, USA, to conduct research (2014-2015). Between 2011 and 2018, he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Physics Engineering at Ankara University, and since March 2018, he has been working as a faculty member at the Stem Cell Institute. Dr. Ünal's research focuses primarily on developing low-cost, next-generation biosensor devices, understanding protein dynamics and protein-ligand interactions, and developing new drug molecules. Dr. Ünal, who led the drug project in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic, has numerous international publications and projects to his name.
