Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) affects mainly older people who are more sensitive to adverse effects of classic nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs. Recent publications indicate that topically applied nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are effective and much safer than their oral analogues.
