Özet

The mechanical removal of sulphuretted apricot pit was investigated by designing and constructing a machine. The machine consisted of a vibration unit, a pit removal unit with wetting system, and a separation unit. The Hacihaliloglu apricot variety, widely grown in Turkey, was used in the tests. The average length, width, thickness, geometric mean diameter, and unit mass of pit were 24-80 mm, 15(.)26 mm, 10(.)90 mm, 16(.)04 mm, and 1.89g, respectively. In the moisture range from 25 to 35% w.b., the belt speed, the pit removal clearance between the front two pulleys, the pit removal angle between the upper and lower belt, power requirement, rate of work, specific energy, and efficiency of pit removal were found to be 0(.)10 in s(-1), 5 mm, 9degrees, 2(.)083 kW, 271 kg h(-1), 7.686 kWh t(-1), and 99%, respectively. The pit removal efficiency increased when the clearance and the belt speed decreased. An increase in pit removal angle caused the pit removal efficiency to increase.
