Özet
This research sheds light on the characters and their social and psychological dimensions in the novel "Hamamat Beed wa Narjila", by the novelist Ahmed Ziad Mohabak. Character has a great importance in any novel. Characters create the events, determine the time and location of events. On the objective side, it is the novelist's tool and means of expressing his vision. From the technical point, it is the driving force which all the elements of narration circulate around it. And the main element where all these elements meet. The research also aims to explain the styles used by the novelist to create characters. In order for these characters to be imprinted, and to be viable in the mind of the recipient and to create a full-fledged picture of the narrative character, the recipient must be informed of the circumstances of life and the different, knowledge of its social, economic, scientific and cultural level, its personal level and the associated feelings, and the knowledge of its multiple relationships with other personalities in the spiritual society in which it lives. The choice of this novel was because it sheds light on an important stage the history of Syria in general, and Aleppo in particular, that is the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the twenty-first century. In this phase Aleppo entered the field of industry, and a new class of society, the factory workers, was formed. The emergence of this class was accompanied by administrative corruption that enabled some people to exploit it in their favour in the possession of funds and the transfer of other property in which they had no right, they did that through forgery. This group of people not only took advantage of the theft of capital, but also exploited the working class after it entered the industry. It has been corrupted to increase its capital, and to achieve other personal purposes. This new social situation has created a state of anxiety and psychological disorder among the working class and the exploited group whose money was stolen. This anxiety and turmoil has resulted in negative reactions to social life in general. This research was based on the concepts of introduction, introduction to the novelist, summary of the novel, types of characters, the methods of building characters, naming characters and their language tag, the social and spiritual dimension of them, the conclusion and the general results, and then the clarification of sources and references.
