The aim of this study is to examine some independent variables (the types of priming-target stimuli, consistency level, subthreshold presentation and emotions) that have potential to affect positive and negative preparation types. For this purpose, 3 experiments were designed. In Experiment-1 and Experiment-2, it is examined that the effect of stimuli (face, word and shape) on positive, negative (and semi-negative) priming under different presentation conditions (sub and supra-threshold). The purpose of Experiment 3 is to examine the effect of the consistency / inconsistency of more than one feature (facial and emotional expressions) of the priming stimuli on the types of priming effect. The research was conducted with a total of 150 participants (50 participants for each experiment). In all three experiments, positive, negative and semi-negative priming effects were experimentally demonstrated on recognition tasks. The findings are important in terms of showing that the priming effect is continuous. In Experiment 3, it is found that there is no difference between face and facial emotion in terms of negative priming in emotional face recognition task.
