A successfully treated case of cervical esophageal web is presented. According to the recent reports the disease is not uncommon. Hysterical dysphagias, Plummer Vinson syndrome and other unidentified dysphagias should carefully be evaluated. Although the etiological factors in the development of the esophageal webs are still controversial, Plummer Vinson syndrome, iron deficiency anemias and congenital abnormalities are most suspected factors in the etiology.
