Özet

© 2022,Milli Egitim. All rights reservedThe aim of this study is to adapt the Workplace Ostracism Scale developed by Ferris, Brown, Berry, and Lian (2008) to Turkish for teachers working at school. The study group of this research is determined according to the Turkey Statistical Region Units Classification (SRUC) 1. In this regard, 343 teachers, working at public primary, secondary and high schools, from each region of Turkey, divided into 12 regions according to SRCU-1, are included in this study. In the scale adaptation process, first of all, experts’ opinions are consulted for language validity. The linguistic equivalence of the scale is provided with correlation analysis. The construct validity of the scale is examined by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). According to EFA results, the scale provides a one-dimensional structure with 10 items as in the original. According to CFA results, the model fit indexes of this single-factor structure are found to be good. In order to determine the reliability of the scale, item total correlation, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient, and test-retest method are used. According to these calculations, the scale has internal consistency. This study concludes that the Workplace Ostracism Scale is a reliable and valid measurement tool in order to investigate the ostracism behaviors of teachers in Turkey..
