The facial region plays a significant role in expressing personal identity. Its shape and features are influenced by factors such as bone structure, fat accumulation, skin color, and aging. The face plays a crucial role in communication and conveys our emotions through facial muscles and expressions. Nerves, arteries, and lymph nodes support the functions of the facial region. Facial muscles, grouped in different areas, perform various movements. The temporomandibular joint is an important connection between the jawbone and the skull, contributing to functions like chewing, speaking, and swallowing. The joint is supported by discs and ligaments, controlling jaw movements. Temporomandibular joint problems may manifest as pain, restricted movement, locking, or dislocation. Causes include injuries, dental issues, stress, and arthritis. Treatment options include protective measures, pain relievers, muscle relaxants, and physical therapy. Surgical intervention may be necessary in some cases. Preventive treatments involve reducing stress, controlling bruxism, maintaining proper jaw position, and ensuring dental health.
