Özet
This chapter reviews the anatomy and physiology of the normal retina, providing a detailed overview of its landmarks. It tracks the evolution of retinal imaging techniques from traditional methodologies to the latest advances in UWF techniques. The chapter highlights FAF imaging, a technique that primarily captures the distribution of lipofuscin within the RPE cells, offering insights into the cellular health and metabolic status. FA is also discussed, which enhances the visualization of retinal vasculature through the fluorescence of sodium fluorescein. Advances in digital imaging and confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy have significantly improved the resolution of FA images. In addition, ICGA is explored as a superior alternative to FA for imaging the choroid, crucial for diagnosing various chorioretinal disorders.
