Özet

Myiasis is a rare condition caused by the invasion of tissues by the larvae of flies. Many cases of myiasis involving various human organs have been reported. Oral myiasis is very rare in healthy persons but occurs mainly in the tropics and is associated with inadequate public and personal hygiene. We present a case of oral myiasis in a healthy 4-year-old boy. The diagnosis was, ion of wriggling larvae. The larvae based on the characteristic clinical features and the visualization were identified as Wohlfahrtia magnifica (Family Sarcophagidae). Treatment consisted of manual removal of the larvae, one by one, with the help of clinical forceps, local debridement of the labial gingiva and oral hygiene practice. The patient was followed-up for 3 months and healing was uneventful.
