Özet
Vision, just like speed and strength, is a critical component in sports. Therefore, vision plays an important role in athletes’ performance and sport success and cannot be separated from general physical and mental health. In every aspect of sports, the eye can be affected alone or together with other organs, for instance head injuries resulting in concussion. In the event of an eye injury, team physician must assess whether the athlete can return to the field of play, or the athlete should be referred to an ophthalmologist or immediately transported to the hospital. Therefore, the interdisciplinary nature of sports medicine requires collaboration between sports medicine professionals and ophthalmologists. Through such collaboration, athletes can receive appropriate eye care, education on proper eye protection, and guidance on adopting good eye health practice.
