Magnetic characterization of a bulk BSCCO superconductor was carried out by use of fundamental and high-order harmonic susceptibilities chi(n) = chi(n)' + ichi(n)" (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) at temperatures between 40 K and 110 K with small ac and dc fields. They show a dependence on the ac and dc fields. The observed chi(n) - T curves were analysed by the simplified Kim model. We have obtained an empirical function for the penetration field H-p = H-alpha(1 - t)(beta), where t is the reduced temperature. The experiments are in good agreement with theory.
