Abstract

Many of the Turkish medicinal plants are useful medicinal aspect and contain alkaloids of potential medicinal uses. In the current research programme of our department, alkaloids from Turkish medicinal plants are being isolated, identified and their biological activities evaluated. In the aforementioned context, it is planned to carry out a systematic study of the uninvestigated Amaryllidaceae plants growing in Turkey. The isolation, structure elucidation and biological activities of alkaloids from Leucojum aestivum L. and Pancratium maritimum L. are presented.
