This study introduces a Choquet integral-based entropy for quantifying the uncertainty in https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML” display=“inline” overflow=“scroll”> q -rung orthopair fuzzy sets, offering decision makers a broader evaluation framework and reducing constraints in the assessment process. Using the Choquet integral, the proposed entropy measure provides more nuanced results by accounting for the interactions between criteria (elements) in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). A similarity measure based on this entropy is developed to evaluate the similarity between alternatives in the MCDM process using a simplified approach. Additionally, an entropy-based algorithm for MCDM is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of the introduced entropy and similarity measures, which is applied to a literature-based case study on a mobile edge caching scheme aimed at reducing latency and improving service quality by minimizing data transfer distances. Finally, a comparative analysis with existing entropy measures and a sensitivity analysis with respect to the parameter in the https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML” display=“inline” overflow=“scroll”< λ -fuzzy measure are conducted.
