Abstract

In this study, with the help of organic geochemical properties of Eocene aged bituminous shales in Çeltek (Amasya) and Sorgun (Yozgat) fields; It is aimed to evaluate the depositional conditions and hydrocarbon potentials of the region. For this purpose, in the examples; Rock-Eval pyrolysis, Gas Chromatography (GC), Modified Fischer Assay (MFA) analysis and organic facies evaluations were performed. The TOC values of bituminous shales have excellent source rock properties and these values are on average 9.71% in the Çeltek (Amasya) field and 6.19% on average in the Sorgun (Yozgat) field. Kerogen types according to HI, HI-OI, HI-Tmax, S2-TOC, S2/S3 parameters and organic petrographic data; It is Type-I and Type-II in the Çeltek (Amasya) field, and Type-II in the Sorgun (Yozgat) field. The Tmax averages of samples from Çeltek (Amasya) and Sorgun (Yozgat) fields are 439.6℃ and 435.04℃, respectively. According to the maturation and Bitumen Index values, it was determined that the samples in the Çeltek (Amasya) field were at the beginning of expulsion, while there was no HC expulsion in the Sorgun (Yozgat) field. According to MFA analysis: The (average %) oil yield of the samples from the Çeltek (Amasya) field is 5.13% and has a medium economic potential; in the Sorgun (Yozgat) field, it was determined that the samples did not have an economic oil potential with an oil yield of 2.20%.
