Abstract
Abstract: THE IMPORTANCE OF KOK KOL (BLUE LAKE) IN THE HISTORY
OF CHINGIZID
little lake called Kok Kol in Turkish,
Koko Nor by the Mongols is in the east of Ulanbaatar and is about 200-250 kilometers away. We would like to point out that this
place has nothing to do with Koko Nor, which is now within the borders of the
People’s Republic of China. The lake we are standing on is a
small pond between Kerulen and its tributary Sengur/Sengir River, and is today
within the province of Hentey. In fact, this lake is considered near
to the sources of the Onon River. Important decisions
until the period of Kublai were taken in the congresses gathered on the coast
of Kok Kol. In addition, the skirts of Burhan
Haldun Mountain and the vicinity of Kok Kol became a cemetery for the Chingizid
chiefs. Maybe even Chingiz Khan’s grave
should be searched here.
