Abstract

Bioprocess variables are products of biological nature as well and they can also be measured in the phases of gas, liquid and solid. The design characteristics of biosensors are mainly depending upon these variables which to be measured. However, this chapter does not classify biosensors in terms of phases of analytes. It divides biological variables into 3 main classes (Biomass, Cell Morphology & Cell Metabolism) which are the parameters mainly measured by biosensors in the market.
