From past to present, people from different cultures have the experience of working together. However, today,
especially in the labor markets of receiving countries, the employment of migrant labor is higher. According to the
dual labor market theory, migrant labor is mainly employed in low-skilled jobs that the local labor force does not want,
and there is a segregated labor market in the country. Nevertheless, there are many workplaces where local and migrant
labor force works together in the primary and secondary sectors, and the effects of cultural differences in these
workplaces are frequently discussed with their positive and negative aspects. As the importance of intercultural
communication, recognizing and understanding different cultures to work together is understood, “intercultural
competence” comes to the agenda as a quality both organizations and employees should have. Organizations organize
"diversity training programs" within the framework of "diversity in the workplace" policies to gain this competence.
However, organizations' "diversity in the workplace" policies are not entirely independent of the country's political,
economic, and social climate. The perception of immigrants changes positively or negatively from time to time in
society. In addition, access to the labor market and discrimination in the workplace are also ongoing problems of the
migrant labor force. The study will discuss the functionality of workplace diversity policies and cross-cultural
competence from a critical perspective using the relevant literature then will include best practices for solving the
problems faced by the migrant labor force in working life.
