The aims of the study were 1) to reveal water quality of Lake Burdur and Bozçay stream (2005-2008), 2) to demonstrate the evaporation and precipitation rates and 3) to find out the change of the lake area and the reasons of the changes by means of satellite images. Lake Burdur is located at 37°45' N -30°13' E in a closed river basin. The habitat utilizing the lake is in danger because of decrease in the lake area. Water quality of Lake Burdur is saline-sulfate property and is not qualified for irrigation. Bozçay stream is low in EC, SAR and boron content which makes the stream attractive for irrigation. Flow rate of Bozçay stream is lower in summer season when the irrigation rates are very high. The satellite images revealed that the last two decades, the area shrinking was 65.98%. Between 1987 and 2000 the area decreased 22.68% when the most water derivation constructions were built. Between 2000 and 2010, the area decreased 14.63%. Meteorological data of 35 years records revealed that the driest period started in terms of low precipitation and high evaporation rates observed after 2000.
