The legend of Don Juan, which was first written by Tirso de Molina (1583-1648) with the title of The Trickster of Seville and the Stone Guest (1630) at the beginning of the XVIIth century, is a legend that has changed over the centuries and has been a source of inspiration for many works of art. There are only three unchanging issues in the legend of Don Juan: a well-known hero, a group of seduced and deceived women, and a statue invited to dinner by Don Juan. Molière's Don Juan was first performed on the 15th of February 1665. Seducing women, Don Juan is against morality and resorts to all kinds of hypocrisy and lies to fulfill his desires. The play, in which the themes of atheism and revolt against values are at the forefront and causing controversy, remain on the stage for about five weeks, and then it is removed from the stage. It would take nearly two centuries for it to be staged again in the Odeon theatre in 1841. Henry de Montherlant's Don Juan was first performed on the 4th of November 1958. In the first performance of the play, some of the audience leaves the play after half of the performance. Montherlant creates the hero of the legend with a completely different personality. In the author's own words, Don Juan now appears as an ordinary personality. Montherlant's Don Juan does not believe in miracles, gods, or anything supernatural in general, and does not seek any proof. He is a character who is now sixty-six years old and goes on a “female hunt” to survive. This study aims to examine the almost radically changing features of the hero in two plays in which the legend of Don Juan takes place, Molière's Don Juan and Montherlant's Don Juan
