Özet

Introduction and Aim: It is known that leisure constraints affect university students negatively. It is thought that providing various facilitators to save university students from these negative situations and helping them to show a healthier behavior in the activities they participate in will contribute positively to their psychological status. In this context, the aim of our study is to examine the serial mediation role of leisure facilitators and perceived health of recreation in the effect of leisure constraints on happiness. Method: The sample group of the study in the relational survey model consists of 490 female (55%), 401 male (45%) and 891 (Mage=20.41±2.47) university students selected by convenience sampling method. ‘‘The Leisure Constraints Questionnaire-Short Form (LCQ-SF)’’, ‘‘Leisure Facilitator Scale (LFS)’’, ‘‘Perceived Health Outcomes of Recreation Scale (PHORS)’’ and ‘‘The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire Short Form (OHQ-SF)’’ were used to collect data in the study. After testing the basic assumptions of parametric tests, in addition to descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and SPSS Process Macro (Model 6) were used to determine the serial mediation effect of leisure facilitators and perceived health outcomes of recreation between leisure constraints and happiness. Findings: According to the results of Pearson correlation analysis, although there was a positive correlation between the mean scores of the LCQ-SF, LFS and PHORS (p<0.01), there was no statistically significant correlation between the LCQ-SF and OHQ-SF (p>0.05). According to the data obtained from the analysis results, although it was determined that leisure constraints had no direct effect on happiness (b= -0.069, 95% CI [-0.1937 0.0549], t = -1.095, p>0. 05), the serial mediation effect of leisure constraints on happiness is significant; therefore, leisure facilitators and perceived health outcomes OF recreation have a serial mediation effect on the relationship between leisure constraints and happiness (b= 0.037, 95% CI [0.0094 0.0336]). Conclusion: In general terms, it can be stated that leisure facilitators and perceived health of recreation are important factors in coping with leisure constraints and their effect on happiness. This study is considered to be the first study in the literature to reveal the results of serial multiple mediation effect analysis on the relationship between leisure constraints, facilitators, perceived health outcomes of recreation and happiness. In future studies, it can be stated that it is important to examine the reasons for the results obtained in this study with moderator effect analyses and qualitative research to analyze in depth.
