Supporting Home Care of Turkish Premature Infants: A Mobile Application Development Study

Özet
The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate a mobile application called “PreBaby” adapted to the needs of Turkish mothers of premature babies. The application was developed using the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation model. In the analysis phase, the topics and training areas needed by 71 mothers of premature babies during home care were determined. In the design phase, written training and 13 skill training videos were created, and the validity and comprehensibility of the content were verified by 9 experts. In the analysis phase, the following training topics were determined: nutrition, baby care, possible health problems, growth and development, baby room, sleep and dressing, vaccinations, and traditional practices. The content validity index of the training material was found to be 0.92. It was confirmed that the main menu, written training, baby care skill training videos, and sending messages to the administrator section worked well. The interface was understandable, there were simple transitions between interfaces, and ease of use. “PreBaby” has the potential to serve as an effective training tool to improve mothers’ knowledge and skills regarding the care of premature babies. It is anticipated that it will contribute to the discharge education of mothers with premature babies.
