Özet

This research was carried out to determine milk production of Angora goats and the effect of milk production on kids growth. The data were collected from Angora goat herd raised at Lalahan Livestock Central Research Institute between 20072008 years. Lactation milk yield and duration were 88.28 kg and 179.4 days, respectively. The effects of lactation number on milk yield, daily milk yield and lactation duration were significant ip<0.001). Mean daily milk yield was 490 g during entire lactation period while the highest daily milk yield was 820 g on the 42(nd) day of lactation. The effect of lactation number on some of growth periods of kids were significant (p<0.05), and the kids from goats with 2 and 3 lactation number had higher growth performance than the kids from goats with 1 lactation number. Daily milk yield at different lactation stages were generally positively correlated with kids' growth. The results revealed that milk yield of Angora goats in this study was higher than those of literature published before, and growth performance of the kids were positively correlated with the milk yield of goats.
