© 2020, © 2020 Critique.In this article, the author will try to shed light on the historical dynamics and pillars of the construction of Erdoğan’s recent autocratic regime in Turkey. He will discuss that regime change mainly in the framework of a proposal for leaving the hegemonic crisis with a very despotic reconstruction of the relationships between executive organ–whole state apparatuses and state–civil society. In contrast to existing fragilities in the world economy, very high rates of economic growth between 2010 and 2013 in Turkey made that authoritarian shift in politics possible. Erdoğan and his party presented a one-man regime as a necessity for the continuance of the economic success which would indirectly bring a solution to the hegemonic crisis. In this respect, this article is an attempt to contribute to current debate on the historical relations, linkages and changing potentials between the recent rise of right-wing populism, autocratic regimes and fascism(s) using the case of Turkey. The scope of this article is limited to events and discussions until the legalization of Erdoğan’s one-man regime (April 2017).
