Özet

General Surgery Clinic which was established in 1945, trained a total of 68 professors in a period of 61 years to date, in the said period of time, 47 of our collogues have become associate professors after succeeding the necessary examinations to quality. There are 388 collogues who have specialized as general surgeons following a successful training program since Prof. Cihat Borçbakan who was the first General Surgeon specialized in our Clinic. Surgical Oncology department, officially opened in 1989 and started its specialist training program in 1990, trained a total of 15 surgical oncologist as specialists. There are many rectors, assistant rectors, deans, assistant deans, head of departments, head of a main medical department , head doctors and assistant head doctors, working all over Turkey after being trained and gained experience our Clinic. We are honored to hear the success stones of these collogues. General Surgery Department, once established as a temporary Clinic within the Gulhane and Numune Hospitals has now become a modern clinic with qualified and affluent teaching personnel, hard working academics, huge in- patient capacity, and impressive intensive care and operation units. In addition to those, Laboratories which were established for diagnostic and research objectives has made significant contribution to meet an important necessity.
