Combined immunodeficiency is a group of diseases that affects both cellular and humoral immunity. They predispose patients to infection, autoimmune diseases and malignancy. Combined immunodeficiency has a high degree of genetic, immunological and clinical diversity. The prototype of this group is "severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID)". Thanks to new developments providing an understanding of the molecular basis of different forms of SCID, the prognosis of this devastating disease has improved due to progressing supportive and curative treatment modalities. In this article mainly SCID is discussed and brief information about other combined immunodeficiencies are given. Specifically we aimed to refer to recent advances in the diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment.

Kombine immün yetmezlikler, hücresel ve humoral immünitenin beraber etkilendiği hastalıklar grubudur. Enfeksiyonlara, otoimmün hastalıklara ve malignitelere yatkınlık yaratırlar. Kombine immün yetmezlikler yüksek derecede genetik, immünolojik ve klinik çesitliliğe sahip bir hastalık grubudur. Bu grubun prototipini "ağır kombine immün yetmezlik (SCID)" oluşturmaktadır. SCID'in farklı formlarının moleküler temelinin anlaşılmasını sağlayan yeni gelişmeler sayesinde bu yıkıcı hastalığın destekleyici ve kesin tedavisinde prognozu iyileştiren ilerlemeler sağlanmıştır. Bu makalede ağırlıklı olarak SCID tartışılmaktadır, diğer kombine immün yetmezlikler hakkında da kısa bilgiler yer almaktadır. Özellikle tanı, patogenez ve tedavideki son gelişmelere değinilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
