Superovulation of rabbits with a single injection of eCG or multiple injections of FSH is commonly used to syncronize estrus and to increase the number of embryos for various reproductive and embryo manipulation studies (Widmeyer and Shaver, 1972, Kobayashi et al., 1990; Carney and Foote, 1991; Martin and Shaver, 1972; Fujimoto et al., 1974) . Although greater embryo yields could be obtained from superovulation, morphological deformations and chromosomal abnormalities have been reported in embryos recovered from superovulated rabbits treated with eCG or FSH (Carney and Foote, loc. cit.; Kauffman et al., 1998).
