Özet
Accurate interpretation of indications for treatment is the cornerstone of success in medicine. Ultrasonography (USG) is a diagnostic imaging modality for the evaluation of head and neck lesions in lymph nodes and salivary glands, as well as facial bone fractures, etc. The USG reveals the contents of tumoral and cystic, and currently plays auxiliary and supportive roles. The US enhances our understanding of the histopathology of oral lesions. The USG also is safe and no ionizing radiation is used. Moreover, the USG is indicated for pregnant and pediatric patients, which is simple, painless, repeatable, noninvasive, and economical. The USG provides useful information on head and neck as well dentomaxillofacial lesions. Experimental research and clinical use in dentomaxillofacial have employed USG increasingly over the last decade. The book examines the relation between clinical features, diagnosis, and choice of minimally invasive technique for a range of dentomaxillofacial disorders and also provides information on posttreatment therapy. It explains how the selection of imaging technique is intimately related to clinical and diagnostic aspects and how recognition of this relation forms the foundation for an optimal outcome.
