Abstract

All rights reserved.In this paper, Toshihiko Izutsu’s relationships with Abdurreshid Ibrahim and Musa Jarullah, the important personages of Turkish World and Islamic perspective of Izutsu are studied. Izutsu met Ibrahim and Jarullah in Japan when he was young and his Islamic studies began thanks to them. In this context, the subjects such as Izutsu’s thoughts on Prophet Muhammed, Islam, perception of people and ethic in Islam and the analogy between Islam and Taoism are studied. When Izutsu was not in Japan (1961-1979), it is seen that he wrote his works in English. In this paper, beside his English works, the other Japanese ones he wrote after 1979 and the other Japanese sources on Izutsu are covered. Therefore, in this paper it is aimed to give information on İzutsu to Turkish Academic life by English to Turkish translations as well as Japanese contents handled in this study.
