Abstract

The Pavlik Hamess is a dynamic splint first applied by Amold Pavlik in 1944 for the treatment of developmental hip dysplasia (DDH). Since it is "dynamic" - which implies that it does not force the joint into non-physiologic positions - avascular necrosis of the femoral head is very rare. The early detection of DDH and institution of proper treatment increases the probability of successful results. Copyright © 2005 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
