Abstract

The calculation of the effective g-factor in QHE is presented by a simple diagram method and by a flux quantization argument. It is shown that the effective g-factor only takes even integer values: such as 2, 4, 6 ... and so on. Decimal values of g*, which have been observed experimentally, are not allowed. According to the conclusion of the present investigation, an explanation of the observation of decimal g* values must be sought elsewhere such as the change in the effective mass or the presence of local magnetic field effects.
