Özet

The study area is located at the center of Dinar (Afyon) town and surrounding. The stratigraphic sequence of Dinar and surrounding area has Mesozoic units at the base and Cainozoic clastics and carbonate from bottom to top. This study was carried out in the Garipçe formation, which includes limestone, sandy and clayey limestone. Three measured stratigraphic sections were taken from the center of Dinar town and surrounding area for biostratigraphy and paleoenvironmental interpretations of the larger benthic foraminifera in the sediments of the Garipçe formation. 13 genera and 18 species characterizing the middle and late Lutetian were sistematically identified. The presence of Alveolina cf. prorrecta Hottinger, Assilina exponens (Soweby), Nummulites beaumonti d'Archiac and Haime, N. millecaput Boubée and N. praeaturicus Schaub indicate the middle Lutetian age. Alveolina gr. elliptica (Sowerby), Assilina exponens (Soweby), Nummulites aturicus Joly and Leymerie, N. beaumonti d'Archiac and Haime and Chapmanina gassinensis Silvestri were obtained from the late Lutetian sequence. Based on the identified benthic forams, the biozones SB 14 and SB 15 of middle Lutetian and SB 16 of late Lutetian were determined. From the results of the evaluation of the lithological characteristics and benthic foraminiferal content, it can be suggested that the area was deposited within the reefal environment.
