Özet

This study was carried out to determine the efficiency of propagation by the mound layering method in 11 selected "SO" quince (Cydonia oblonga) rootstocks over 5 years between 1999 and 2003. The numbers of stool shoot and rooted stool shoot per parent plant, rooting percentage of stool shoot, root rating on stool shoot, and stool shoot rating based on height were determined. SO 39-200 (dwarf), SO 16-69 (semi-dwarf), and SO 58315 (vigorous) rootstocks had the best performance of propagation by the mound layering method. The largest numbers of rooted stool shoots (between 6.47 +/- 2.22 and 7.0 +/- 1.30 per parent plant) were significantly obtained from these three rootstocks. There were large variations in the percentage of rooting of stool shoots (0.0%-79.52%) among SO rootstocks.
