Özet

The aim of this research is to examine the adaptation of the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWS) for married men and women in the Turkish society. In recent years, changing family structures and an increasing divorce rate in Turkey have indicated a need for a measurement tool to evaluate married life along multiple dimensions, such as: daily work relating to family and home, personal and economic conditions, and relationships. In this research, Exploratory Factor Analysis is used to examine the three dimensions which constitute the PWS, comprising 36 items organized as: "General Feelings", "Satisfaction with Economic, Family and Personal Conditions", and "Ability to Pursue Activities Outside the Home". In all, 233 married women and men who work in public institutions participated in this research. The total variance value of the PSW is found to be 40.46%. Validity of factors is examined by Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Cronbach's Alpha coefficients of factors calculated for reliability are: 0.86 for the first factor, 0.88 for the second factor, and 0.86 for the third factor. As a result of this study, it was determined that PWS for married women and men can be accepted as a valid and reliable tool for use in Turkish society
