In this study, the laboratory scale production of the micropellets containing theophylline was perpared by "stepped rimmed flat pan" apparatus. Three different formulations were prepared for the preformulation of the micropellets using, Aerosil 200, Avicel pH 101, lactose and gelatine (3-5% as binding solution). Physical controls and dissolution rate analysis were done after the preparation of micropellets. Due to the controls, the best micropellet formulation was chosen in order to prepare three types of tablet formulations by using Precirol, Ludipress and Ac - Di - Sol. Physical controls, dissolution rate and kinetics of these tablet formulations were also studied. A common formulation with the best micropellet and tablet specifications was derived and then the prestability examinations (under 22°C, 37°C and 50%, 75% relative humidity conditions) were continued for 8 weeks. As a result, the characteristic of the coming out of the theophylline from the micropellets and the tablets is zero - order kinetics and no important difference occurs between the profiles of the come out at the first 0.5 and 4 hours.
