Özet

Many works have been written in Turkish Literature through translation in verse. The Arabic poetic aqāidnāmah book called Ukūdu’l-Akāid, which was compiled by Hanafī jurist Imāmzādah al-Bukhārī (d. 573/1177), is one of the works translated into Turkish in verse. This article aims to analyze Nazm-i Jawāhir, which is the Turkish poetic translation of this work, also known as Cevahiru Ukūdi'l-Akāid and Ukūdu'l-Jawāhir, in terms of literature Ukūdu’l-Akāid, which is the source of Nazm-i Jawāhir, is a work that has been written within Hanafī-Māturīdī theological tradition. This work, consisting of 770 couplets, was translated into Turkish under the name Nazm-i Jawāhir during the reign of Sultan Bāyezīd II (1481-1512). We currently have an unique (single) copy of this work, whose translation dates are unknown. According to the missing ending copy, which is registered in the manuscript section of the Presidency of Religious Affairs library at 005232-2, this mesnevī is 792 couplets. According to our findings, no work has been done on the work whose translator could not be determined. The work begins with refutation of the Sufestaiyye (Sophists) group, which denies the reality of things. In the work, there are also refutations under the headings of other groups such as Ahl al-Kitab, Mushabbiha, Cabriyya, Mu'tazila, Dahriyya and Mucessima. Nazm-i Jawāhir has the characteristics of Old Anatolian Turkish. The language of the work contains more Arabic and Persian elements than other poetic works with a religious content written in the period. The fact that it is the oldest of the poetic aqāidnāmahs written in the Anatolian field among those whose date or period of writing has been determined and that only a single copy has been identified makes Nazm-i Jawāhir important in terms of Islamic Turkish Literature.
