Özet

In this study, the business processes and the workflow related to the purchase of printed books, which were carried out by the Library and Documentation Center of Ankara University within the scope of acquisition activities, were examined. Business processes are modeled using a business process modeling method called Unified Modeling Language (UML). The aim of the work is to apply the mentioned method to the "business process of acquisition printed books" and to propose a solution to improve the process by determining the disruptive aspects of the process. Results of the study shows that business process modeling can empower communication between stakeholders, this communication may lead to emergence of user-oriented systems and applications, business processes carried out in the library units can be modeled and modeling it is easy to see the processes that do not provide added value to the current processes.
