We have studied the effects of replacing the stabilizing element Mo by V on the magnetic characteristics of the ErCo10Mo2-xVx family of compounds using magnetization measurements. The replacement was carried out progressively from x = 0 to x = 2 in steps of 0.5. X-ray powder diffraction analysis of the prepared samples showed that the expected ThMn12-type structure was obtained overwhelmingly with negligible amounts of secondary phases. The Curie temperatures showed no clear change of the replacement of Mo by V. Spin reorientation temperatures were observed to shift considerably to higher temperatures with increasing V content.
