The March 12nd, 1971 Memorandum of the Turkish Armed Forces is one of the important turning points in Turkish political life. With the 27 May 1960 Coup d'etat, the order established by the military was changed for the first time and led to the resignation of the cabinet of Suleyman Demirel. The series of events leading to the The March 12nd Memorandum of the Turkish Armed Forces started in 1968 when student protests intensified. In particular, as a result of the reflections of the student protests that emerged in France and spreaded all over Europe on Turkey, the country entered into an atmosphere of political chaos. As of the summer of 1970, these events, which took an inextricable dimension, were constantly discussed by the authorities at the head of the state. With the impact of the economic crisis, Turkey entered into a spiral of violence deeply felt by all segments of society. Jacinto Sanchez Santamar?a, who was the Argentine ambassador to Turkey during this period, like all other diplomats, began to carefully monitor the events in Turkey and to report regularly to Buenos Aires. In these reports, the Argentinian diplomat, who explained the events in detail and their causes, also made predictions about the outcomes and informed his ministry. In this study, we will evaluate Santamar?as reports on Turkish domestic politics, obtained through research in the Archives of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, starting from December 1970 and continuing until 12 March 1971. With the evaluation of these reports of the Argentine diplomat, it is thought that the questions from which perspective a Latin American diplomat looks at Turkish domestic politics and how he understands the events can be answered.
