Abstract

New complexes of Mn(III) with Schiff bases obtained by the condensation of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with glycine, L-alanine, L-phenylalanine, L-histidine, L-tryptophan and L-threonine have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, UV, IR, magnetic susceptibility, thermogravimetry and non-aqueous titration. These complexes are coordinated through the ONO donor set derived from the carboxyl, imino and phenoxy groups of the ligands. Furthermore, the Schiff bases were obtained as solids and their structures were determined by IR, UV, H-1 NMR to compare with those of the complexes.
