The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Prenatal Version of the Coparenting Scale (BEÖ-DÖV) for expectant couples. For this purpose, data were collected from a total of 172 parents who are married and living together and waiting for the birth of their first child. In the study, Principal Components Analysis was applied to determine the factor structure of the BEÖ- DÖV, and the six-factor, 21-item structure explained 71% of the total variance, as in the original scale. Then, within the scope of the construct validity study, the fit of the six-factor structure of the BEÖ-DÖV to the data set was tested by Confirmatory Factor Analysis and it was seen that the six-factor hypothetical model fit the data set. In order to test the criterion-related validity, the correlations between the BEÖ-DÖV scores and the Family Cohesion Scale, the Perceived Romantic Relationship Quality Scale, and the Family Conflict Scale were calculated. The results of the analysis showed that the total score of BEÖ-DÖV and sub-dimension scores showed significant relationships in the expected direction with the scores of family cohesion, perceived romantic relationship quality, and family conflict. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the six-factor structure and total score of BEÖ-DÖV were found above acceptable values. This study presents evidence that the BEÖ-DÖV is a multidimensional, valid, and reliable measurement tool for assessing coparenting during prenatal period.
