Neogene palynological and isotopic age data from Selendi and Usak-Gure basins, western Turkey: A contribution to the upper limit of Eskihisar sporomorph association

Özet

New palynological and isotopic data from Selendi and Usak-Gure basins are consistent with the formerly suggested time span of Eskihisar association (20-14 Ma). A 15.5 +/- 0.4 Ma -old trachyandesite ire and 14.9 +/- 0.6 Ma -old trachydacite interfinger with the Eskihisar sporomorph association bearing Inay group in the Usak-Gure and Selendi basins respectively. These findings show that upper limit of Eskihisar association can securely be placed at about 14.8 Ma or < 14.8 Ma in agreement with the previously dated Dumlupinar-Sincah area.
