© 2016 Tasar?m.Using nanotechnology in medicine and pharmaceutical field has formed new alternatives on drug production, diagnosis and treatment. Usage of solid lipid nanoparticules, liposomes, carbon nanotubes, nanoemulsions and similar nanocarriers has increased with ongoing studies in pharmaceutical field. Regional passive and active targeting methods have been developed to bring nanocarrier systems to their full potential. Via temperature, pH, magnetic methods, particle size, targeting agents and similar factors or combination of these factors, nanocarrier systems can be used efficiently in diagnosis and treatment. This study was prepared by compiling studies consisting of nanocarrier systems and their properties, surface modifications in nanocarrier systems and passive and active targeting.
