Population ageing have been creating enormous effects on financial and social sustainability of pension systems. During the four decades, welfare state reforms aimed at increasing the role of market in the retirement systems, not only failed to reach the expected outcomes but also created exclusion from social security for the large groups of population, poverty and income inequality in oldage. In this study, it is aimed at the effects of welfare state reforms on the old-age income security from comparative perspective. The findings of the study show that in order to solving the negative effects of ageing on the social security systems, it is important to fundamental labour rights of young generations and also income redistribution policies aimed at social justice for old-age population.
