Özet
Maxillofacial tumors are a group of lesions with various clinical, radiological, and histopathological features. Both odontogenic and non-odontogenic tumors are lesions of very high concern for dentomaxillofacial radiologists since their natures can range between a malignancy to a hamartomatous lesion. Maxillofacial tumors can be located in the mucosal tissue as extraosseous lesions or within the mandible and maxilla as intraosseous lesions. Although ultrasonographic examinations of lesions which are localized in soft tissues are much more informative, ultrasound evaluation of intraosseous tumors that do not cause any cortical plate destruction is sometimes impossible. The purpose of this chapter is to clarify the ultrasonographic features of the odontogenic and non-odontogenic tumors of the maxillofacial region with the guidance of the fourth edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Head and Neck Tumours which was published in early 2017.
