The thawing temperature significantly affects the post-thawing survival of frozen spermatozoa (Correa et al., 1996). The assessment of motility alone is inadequate for the evaluation of sperm survival after thawing (Pursel et al., 1972). Because highly motile cells can have damage in structures or functions which can be evaluated by combined (hypoosmotic-supravital staining) test (HE-test), and head and tail membrane behaviour (Soler et al., 2003).
