Two populations of Paeonia turcica, including one in the type locality, and two populations of P kesrouanensis were sampled and observed, in addition to examination of a large number of herbarium specimens. As a result of extensive comparison, we found that there are no distinct differences between P turcica and P kesrouanensis, and thus P turcica is treated as a synonym of the latter. The relationships of P kesrouanensis with its allies are discussed.
